Who we are

The Faculty of Economics and Management Science at the Universidad Austral de Chile, is the leading one in the southern Chile and it is among the top five in the country. It was created in 1981 and it currently has 42 full-time academics distributed if four departments: Management, Economics, Statistics and Tourism management.

Since its creation, it has developed leading-edge academic programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Currently, it has three main programmes at undergraduate level: IngenieríaComercial (BSc in Commerce – Honours); Auditoría (BSc in Accountancy Management and Finance -Honours); and Administración de Empresas de Turismo (BSc Tourism Management – Honours). At the same time, it has two main programmes at postgraduate levels: Magister en Administración de Empresas (Masters of Business Administration) and Magister en Economía y Gestion Regional (MSc in Economics and Regional Management). Furthermore, it has several executive programmes, like Postgraduate Diploma in Management, Diploma in Human Resource Management and Diploma in Marketing and International Business, running in different cities of the southern Chile.

Strong applied research, rigours academic teaching and well-developed company links are part of the main characteristics of this faculty, which also has different collaborative agreement with prestigious national and foreign Universities, namely:

The government of Chile signed in 2003 a collaborative agreement with the EU. This means new opportunities for joint academic and research projects as well as the exchange of students and academics among European and Chilean Universities. Thus, during the next few years the aim is to continue growing with new collaborative agreements, especially in the EU, with top Business Schools and the creation of new innovative academic programmes at postgraduate levels.
